Futuristic Lamp Controlled By Floating Switch Orb

Finally, the Fiat Lux has given me something to replace my adorable koala bear lamp. It’s not quite as cute, but the cool factor more than makes up for it.

Powered by a magnetic switch, the lamp is on when the switch sphere is floating below it — suspended by magnets. To turn it off, the switch orb is set on the lamp, where it stays.

It’s just a prototype, but I cannot wait to see it out in the wild.

The designer, Constance Guisset, created a very, very, very Zen video of the lamp in action, fast forward to about 1:30 if you just want to see her wave between the switch ball and the lamp like a magician (that’s all I wanted to see).
