Apple Sells 3-Billionth iPhone App, 2.99 Billion Are Lightsabers

Apple may have bad news on the horizon with the release of the Nexus One, but they can hang their hat on today’s news: 3 billion iPhone apps have been sold so far. No word yet on how many of those apps have been good apps.

Seriously, there are 100,000 apps for sale right now in the iTunes store. 20,000 of them are games, so that makes sense, but could there possibly be 80,000 other uses for your iPhone? Their store’s filled with shovelware, if you ask me (which you didn’t).

Also, there are only 50 million iPhones out there, which means that the average user buys…60 apps? You guys know the thing makes phone calls too, right?
