Kites That Kill: Mental_Floss’s List of Dark & Deadly Toys
Mental Floss, one of our favorite magazines here at Technomaly, just released a list of 5 Toys With Dark & Deadly Pasts. For example, there’s a kite flying competition in Pakistan where competitors regularly use twine with tiny metal serrations to cut each other’s kites out of the sky. Sounds harmless, until you hear that the twine has killed over 19 people in the past 5 years.
And here I thought the deadliest string was piano wire! The article’s packed with tales of viewmaster’s gone bad, deadly Barbie dogs & a stuffed animal fire that killed more people than any industrial fire ever. Needless to say, the article’s not hilarious, but it’s an intriguing read.
