Plants vs. Zombies. 9 Days. $1 Million Dollars.
If you haven’t heard of Plants vs. Zombies then you may not be as big a dork as you think. The “killer” app (sorry) has been a PopCap hit for quite some time, eating into worktime productivity like so much rotting flesh. Now, you can take the plant on zombie carnage on the road with the $2.99 release on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
And, this just in: the game’s sold over three hundred thousand copies in its first nine days, a number that PopCap says is an iPhone record.
The game itself is as addictive as chlorophyll – it’s a tower defense game in which you plant a garden of friendly yet deadly plants to mow down an ever growing horde of zombies. Pea shooters, potato mines, cherry bombs and 42 other plant types take on an equally diverse array of zombies, like the “newspaper” zombie (a zombie holding a newspaper which acts as a somewhat effective shield), the “conehead zombie” (who wears a traffic cone atop his head) and the Zomboni (a zombie driving a zamboni) are just a few of the wave after wave of monsters y ou’ll face.
Enough talk. Try it yourself!
