Aussie Lawmaker: Gamers More Dangerous Than Bikers
If you’ve ever played an online video game, you’ve likely seen the power games have to turn a mostly normal person into a screaming vulgar weirdo, but could gamers really be dangerous?
One Australian lawmaker says they are, even saying they are more dangerous than the violent biker gangs he fought to break up in his past. One must note that they call bikers bikies in Australia, so how bad could they be?
South Australian Attorney-General Michael Atkinson has been fighting to keep Australia from adopting an adult rating for video games; which he says would leave the door open to stores selling more gore, and adult situations simply because they have an adult rating.
He said that because of his stalwart position against violent or adult video games, gamers have been staking out his house and one left a note under his door.
He didn’t say what the note said, but it prompted him to declare gamers more dangerous than bikers.
“I feel that my family and I are more at risk from gamers than we are from the outlaw motorcycle gangs who also hate me and are running a candidate against me,” he said on ABC TV’s Good Game.
“The outlaw motorcycle gangs haven’t been hanging around my doorstop at 2am. A gamer has.”
Oh I wish I knew what that note said.
