High School Student Builds Flight Simulator
When I was in high school, the only things anyone built were bongs and pipe bombs. Colorado high school senior Ethan Hahn is doing a good job of making the rest of us look bad. He’s built a flight simulator all by himself, and it’s apparently so advanced that it’s being held at the Civil Air Patrol Squadron. The simulator includes five separate computers, each for its own separate task. The simulator already records flight data and projects simulated images onto the screen (as all good flight simulators do), but Hahn isn’t done yet. When complete, the simulator will also feature a touchscreen interface and additional sound amplification properties.
Hahn says he hopes to inspire Air Force Academy cadets to learn more and help them achieve their goals. If one of Hahn’s personal goals is to make other high school students feel like slacker idiots, then he’s succeeded mightily.
