Guitar Hero’s Hilarious Legal Problems

no doubt guitar hero 5Well, here’s a phrase I never thought I’d type: No Doubt is suing Activision, and Activision is suing No Doubt. This has apparently been going on  for a few months, completely under my nose, and I apologize for not reporting this hilarious news sooner.

Why the lawsuit? Well, the members of No Doubt, who are unlockable characters in Guitar Hero 5, can be used to sing non-No Doubt songs, which is apparently some kind of art crime. So now, claiming they’re being used as “karaoke singers,” there’s a good old fashioned legal dust-up in the works.

Why is that so funny to me? I have no idea – perhaps it’s the thought of Gwen Stefani angrily singing Nirvana songs. Speaking of Nirvana, you can also use Kurt Cobain to sing anyone’s songs once you’ve unlocked him, which has led Courtney Love to freak out. Although, that’s not exactly hard, as she’s completely insane and loves to tweet.

Sounds like most celebs!
