Set Condition One throughout the ship, because there’s a Battlestar Galactica MMO on dradis, weapons hot!

Well, that’s enough references only nerds will get. For the rest of you, the hit SyFy channel series Battlestar Galactica is about to see some new life, in the form of a web based MMO.

Details on the game are a little scarce, but here’s what we do know, based on an announcement at the 2010 Game Developers Conference:

• Release date: August or September
• No word on the exact chronology of the game, but they say they’re picking a moment in the series that’s “familiar to fans” – my guess is right before the Pegasus shows up
• It will be free, though costumes, weapons and access to new levels will cost $$$
• There will be both “space combat” and “exploration”

And that’s all we know for now – it’s maddeningly little, we know, but you’ll know more when we know more. So say we all!
