Dragon Age: Origins – Awakenings Drops Today
Today marks a full scale return to Ferelden as Dragon Age: Origins – Awakenings is released for PS3, XBox 360 & PC. Unlike the previous DLC released for the game, Awakenings is massive, raising the game’s level cap, introducing new characters, abilities and loot much while continuing the storyline after the fall of the archdemon.
Here’s some quick facts about what’s sure to be the internet’s next big obsession:
- You’ll be able to import your character from the first game (of course)
- The expansion serves up close to 70 new spells, abilities and skills, including two new specializations for each class.
- Archers will now actually be able to inflict damage
- Hundreds of new items with all new rune slots, properties and higher base stats
- New companions
- The ability to re-spec your companions (and yourself)
These cool new gameplay features are bolstered by the new storyline, which sees the Darkspawn (gulp) becoming intelligent. They’re apparently being spawned and rallied by a rumored-to-exist Darkspawn general, who’d probably love nothing more than to rip Ferelden apart.

I spent an unhealthy amount of time with Dragon Age. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!
