The 3-D Printer is pretty sweet, but it can’t print me a cake.
So of course MIT researchers are working on building a printer that can create edible food any way the owner wants it — and in any form.
I don’t expect these sorts of food printers in my kitchen — ever.

The 3-D Printer is pretty sweet, but it can’t print me a cake.

So of course MIT researchers are working on building a printer that can create edible food any way the owner wants it — and in any form.

I don’t expect these sorts of food printers in my kitchen — ever. But it could mean some interesting things for the ultra gourmet food industry. They are always toying with things like liquid nitrogen and laser cooking and all the things normal cooks could never afford.

Who knows what kind of creations cooks turned engineers could create — perfect spheres of flavor or fragile garnish spindles.

Nobody has actually printed anything just yet, but the concept images are very cool, and the concept food is already making me drool.
