Whoops! Many players of Warhammer Online have been cleaned out by errant billing. And despite their promise of refunds, this spells big trouble for EA.
I’m not sure how many people were hit with the billing error, but I’m doubting that it really will be taken care of as quickly as they promise.

We have confirmed with our vendor that players who have been charged multiple times for their subscriptions should start seeing a reversal of charges within 24-36 hours.

We anticipate that once the charges have been reversed, any fees that have been incurred should be refunded as well.

Yeah, and I’m sure the banks will just say, “OK, sure! Here is your overdraft fee back!”

This whole mess could really hurt EA’s already less-than-sterling MMORPG record. More users from the anemic Warhammer Online could take to the hills — especially if they aren’t still playing hard.

Kotaku readers also left some insightful comments, notable that this could show people how much they are really paying to play a game — after already paying for it.
